HELP – THE GREAT WAR & SECOND WORLD WAR.

Following the commemorations of the Great War this has shifted people’s minds to remember those who fought in the Great war and the second world war which in a short space of time will become a distant memory; which is why we would like to document these before it is too late for future generations.

We would like more information on those that served and died in the First World War and sadly do not have any photographs of Ernest Ruffles, William Baldry, Walter Elmer, Edward Harrison, John Elmer, William Goode, William Pearson, Percy Keeble, Harold Kemp and Herbert Harrison whom we would like to remember.

With regards to the Second World War we would like to know more about those that served particularly Tom Bevan, Herbert Coleman, J Brown, Reginald Frances, John & Ron Golding, Ben Green, John Clarke and Reginald Jolly; their lives and service. We have no details at all of J Brown or even a photo nor of John Clarke. Are there others that should be remembered?

We need recollections of what happened and what went on in Haughley in the Second World War, for instance who was stationed here, what precautions were taken e.g. ARP, Home Guard, Evacuees as well as what events took place, prisoners of war, bombings and so on. Photos would be particularly helpful which can be copied and anything would be gratefully appreciated.
